Topic: Troubleshooting Oscillatory PID loops
Oscillations in control loops are an indication of poor
control loop performance. There are various reasons for
oscillations in a control loop like improper PID tuning,
control valve problems, nonlinearity in process, process
interactions etc. Identifying root cause for these
oscillations can be confusing and time consuming.
The presentation will cover a systematic way to rule out
possible causes and identify the source of oscillations.
Once the source is identified, available methods to fix
oscillations, will also be discussed in detail.
Speaker: Anvitha Kandiraju, Application Engineer,
ControlSoft Inc.
Anvitha Kandiraju received her BS degree in Chemical
Engineering from National Institute of Technology Warangal,
India and MS degree in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie
Mellon University, Pittsburgh. She worked for Reliance
Industries Limited as a process engineer in Naphtha cracker
plant. Since 2016, she has been a Controls Applications
Engineer at ControlSoft, Inc. Highland Heights, OH. As an
application engineer at ControlSoft, Anvitha’s project
experience includes troubleshooting control loop problems,
implementation of PID control, PID tuning and deploying
control loop performance monitoring tools.
Her control applications were implemented in
petrochemical, power generation, paper and glass industries.
