Subject: Pressure Relief Valve

About the Topic:

The presentation will cover the basic terminology applied to pressure relief valves, the theory and operation of both spring loaded and pilot operated designs, as well as the codes & standards that govern their design, testing and installation. There will also be a brief demonstration of Curtiss-Wright’s new SizeMaster 5 PRV sizing software and a video on the benefits of restricted lift valves.  

Speaker Bio:

Ian Flynn is the Aftermarket Technical Trainer at Farris Engineering. Farris Engineering, a leading global supplier of safety and relief valves, is a part of Curtiss-Wright’s Industrial Valve Group.

Ian earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN.

Since joining Curtiss-Wright in 2013, Ian has held roles in the sales department including Quote Specialist and Team Leader. In these roles Ian helped develop an in-house quoting software which vastly improved the efficiency of the department and helped develop SizeMaster 5 – a new web-based PRV sizing software that is now available and free to use.

In his current role, Ian is responsible for providing valve repair training to Farris’ network of authorized service technicians (FAST) and to customer/end user maintenance technicians both on location and at Farris’ headquarters in Brecksville, OH.
